Atra Zist Aray Launches New Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant in Barkat Pharmaceutical City
Atra Zist Aray, a pioneering Iranian knowledge-based biopharmaceutical and aesthetic company, has inaugurated its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Barkat Pharmaceutical City, marking a major step forward in expanding national production capacity and strengthening Iran’s biotechnology infrastructure.
Designed and equipped in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, the new plant demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation, quality, and industrial self-sufficiency.
Dr. Ali Faraji, CEO of Atra Zist Aray, stated in an interview with Fana Pharmaceutical News:
“The new production complex spans a 6,600 m² site, comprising seven floors with over 8,000 m² of operational space. The first floor houses a vial and pre-filled syringe (PFS) filling line with lyophilization capability. This unit is fully compliant with IFDA’s GMP certification for biological pharmaceuticals as well as the GMP license of the Medical Devices Directorate for drug-device manufacturing.”
He added:
“The same facility also includes a cosmetic and skincare production line, which recently obtained its own manufacturing license and GMP certificate. Four new products have already been approved for production in this section.”
Looking ahead, Dr. Faraji announced that the company is preparing to establish its cleanroom for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) production, followed by the installation of a dedicated monoclonal antibody production line on another floor of the project.
Currently, the company employs 180 skilled professionals, 130 of whom are directly engaged in production operations.
He further explained:
“At the new facility, we are producing botulinum toxin under the brand ‘Dyston’ and the mesotherapy & rejuvenation product ‘Luxiva’. The upcoming portfolio will include a range of dermal fillers and mesogels. We also perform contract filling for albumin and IVIG for another group company, and soon will begin producing an emergency cardiac medication for another pharmaceutical partner.”
Dr. Faraji stressed that all production activities strictly adhere to GMP standards and undergo continuous supervision by national regulatory authorities.
The inauguration of this modern manufacturing plant represents more than an industrial milestone—it symbolizes Iran’s growing strength in knowledge-based production, specialized job creation, and sustainable innovation in biotechnology.
The presence of national brands such as “Dyston” and “Luxiva” within the plant reflects Atra Zist Aray’s determination to enhance Iran’s competitiveness in both domestic and global markets, underlining the company’s unwavering commitment to safety, quality, and technological excellence.
