What Is Dyston and How Does It Work?
Botulinum toxin (BoNT) is a highly potent neurotoxin produced by the anaerobic bacterium Clostridium botulinum. This toxin family includes seven distinct subtypes, of which type A is the most potent and the most widely used in medicine. To date, more than 20 clinical and therapeutic applications have been identified for botulinum toxin type A across aesthetics, neurology, and broader medical practice.
Mechanistically, botulinum toxin acts at the neuromuscular junction, where it inhibits the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. - Discontinue medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and blood-thinning supplements at least 10 days before injection
- The injection site should be cleansed with standard disinfectants
